My trip to New York City and Miami

Image
On July 1st, I departed on my first vacation in 2 years with my mom and dad. We went to New York and Miami. It was a rollercoaster of events and I had a lot of fun. Today I will be showing my opinion on both cities and going over what I did in both of them.  Just from the get go, I will be rating the cities on a livability and comfort scale (from the perspective of a tourist).  New York City: In terms of being a tourist in Manhattan, it's not a pretty sight. After I first checked in to the hotel and went on a quick walk around I saw the following.  Masses of weed trucks that were presented as candy trucks, homeless/sketchy people lying around the street (some of them even were polite enough to approach me to ask for money), human/animal excrement everywhere, reckless drivers and bikers, and by far the most detrimental thing: The Subway. I have been on this earth for 13 years and nothing has shook me to my core as much as the New York subway. The sheer smell and condition that som

Is China’s 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Team a “Chinese” Team?

Image
Wow! This article took quite a lot of research! I procrastinated on this article for about two weeks and I finally got around to finishing it. I also experimented with fonts, colors and tables in this article. I won’t bug you for long, enjoy…  NHL Veteran Brandon Yip could not believe it, he had been chosen to represent China at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. While it was a dream come true for the aspiring ice hockey player, it was not all joy. While being selected to play for the Chinese National Team was a huge honor for Yip, the team as a whole had its fair share of controversy.  Interested? Read on.  Firstly, let’s dive into who actually is going to Beijing. First of all, Ivano Zanatta, who was born on August 3 1960, is a former ice hockey player of Italian descent. He was the General Manager for the Italian National Ice Hockey team and he was head coach of the Croatian National team. Moving on, he is now the head coach of the Kunlun Red Star.  I believe it was a great decision

What are the Canucks doing?

Foreword:  This is actually the first time that I have had to do a foreword, first of all, I would like to apologize for the lack of posts, I have been feeling quite burned out and Covid-19 is kinda stressing me out. If you are reading, thank you for supporting my blog :). It really means a lot to me. Also, if you could follow  this blog and subscribe to my Youtube channel Beavermon, that would make my day. Thanks! Now onto the article…  The National Hockey League (NHL), the most famous ice hockey league in the world and the league every young aspiring ice hockey player dreams to play in when they grow up. The NHL consists of 32  teams, located in major cities around Canada and the U.S. Among those 32 teams are the Vancouver Canucks. Although the Canucks are pictured as a friendly lighthearted team where people all around the world can tune in to watch  them face off against  other teams, it’s not

Video Editing As A Hobby 📹

Image
Have you ever wondered how Youtubers make those epic videos? Well today I'm not going to show you! That did not make sense Today instead of making another crummy editing tutorial, I will be going one step back and giving my advice on video editing as a hobby. Interested? Read on!  My opinion on if you should take editing up as a hobby “Video editing is both a rewarding profession and useful skill for personal use.” This statement which is quoted from the American Graphics Institute’s website details why I do video editing as a hobby. I use video editing as both a way to express myself and to pass time. I usually make little edits to show to my friends at school or to upload onto my youtube channel called Beavermon. So should you take up video editing? Well the choice is up to you, but I do recommend doing it as learning video editing comes with quite a lot of benefits. For example, I learned how to c

Book Review: The Unteachables

Image
WARNING: SPOILERS FOR ‘THE UNTEACHABLES’ BOOK BY GORDON KORMAN!  Introduction:  The Unteachables is an amazing book that was written by Gordon Korman (One of my favorite authors.) on a bunch of kids labelled ‘The Unteachables’ by the students and faculty of Greenwich K-8 School. But this year, they take on possibly the most mundane teacher of all time. BEHOLD Mister Kermit (ribbit ribbit ribbit). The kids range from Elaine, the strong and intimidating hulk of muscle. To Parker, the dyslexic thirteen year old and finally Kiana, who technically does not even belong in Greenwich K-8 School. In this book report I will be talking about my opinion on the cheating scandal (ooh), Parker's unique reading condition, and Elaine (Rhymes with pain)’s false reputation.  My opinion on the students:  Firstly, I want to talk about the students of Room 117. I feel like they are misunderstood and if treated the r

What I like about The Seattle Kraken

Image
The Seattle Kraken is a professional ice hockey team that play in the NHL (National Hockey League). They play in the Pacific Division and made their first debut in the 2021-2022 NHL season. The Seattle Kraken is the first professional ice hockey team to compete in the NHL since the Seattle Metropolitans who won the cup in 1917. Today, I will be talking about how the team came to be, the lore behind their logo, my opinion on the new team and their logo and their unique arena (The Climate Pledge Arena) How The Team Came To Be:  The initial concept for an NHL expansion team in Seattle was first proposed by the Seattle Hockey Partners. The idea was approved in December of 2018 by the NHL. Quick note: An expansion team is a team that is from a new city. On February 13, 2018, the Oak View Group filed an application to the NHL for a request to make a new expansion team and paid a hefty U.S 10 Million application fee. On December 4th 2018, the NHL Board Of Governors unanimously voted to approv

The Football War

Image
(Please note that this article only covers the main points of the war.)  Football, one of the world's most popular sports, is simple to play, easy to understand and all you need is a ball and some imagination. But some countries love football a bit more than others such as El Salvador and Honduras. In fact, they love it so much that they went to war over it.  Tensions:  First of all, you should know that tensions were already high between the two countries. Let me explain. El Salvador albeit being significantly smaller than Honduras has a way larger population than Honduras and so, when illegal immigrants from El Salvador started to flood into Honduras, the Honduran Government didn't like that. The solution? Well, terrorize the Salvadorians of course. (Don’t do that) The Honduran government also started evicting the refugees (who had been living in Honduras for generations) to go back to El Salvador. The Salvadoran governme
